Nick Earnshaw - Biography

Having started riding at the age of 5, I joined the Metropolitan Police at the age of 16 and progressed to the Mounted Branch at the age of 21. During my 28 years in the Mounted Branch I have been an active member of the management team at the Mounted Training Centre, run various operational stables and have been involved in most of the major public order events in London such as the Wapping Printers' Dispute, Poll Tax riots, Trooping The Colour, Royal weddings and State Visits. I have also attended nearly every major football and sports grounds in London as a mounted police officer. I have been an accredited mounted police instructor for 17 years. Whilst serving as a police officer I have also had the opportunity to ride for dealers, hunt ("green" and "made" horses), Point to Point, event, show jump, judge and teach. Under the tutorlege of some of the very best coaches and horsemen I have gained a wealth of experience over the years. Over the last few years I have become more and more involved with Monty Roberts, Kelly Marks and the Intelligent Horsemanship organisation. This knowledge, coupled with over 40 years of hands-on experience, has equipped me with a wealth of practical skills across a broad range of equestrian disciplines.
